During my three years at the KITP I discovered surfing. I had a longboard (a loaner from Wati Taylor) and a 7’6’’, which I’d keep in my ocean-view office. When the break looked good I’d stroll down to the point for a session. The swell map from one particularly glorious day is to the left. I’ve since graduated to Kanaha and Ho’okipa on Maui.
Sadly, I now live a fair ways from the ocean. But a good skateboard helps. And it turns out snowboarding might just rival surfing!:
Now that I’m in Chicago, I entertain myself with more “civilized” pursuits:
